Dancebachata - Destinations Travel Show - NEC Birmingham 3 - 5 Mar 2006 The crowds at the Birmingham Travel Show gave a hearty welcome to the Dancebachata team who performed and taught Bachata to the wonderful music of Aventura, the most well know Dominican bachata band in the world. The festival atmosphere inside the NEC melted the freezing weather outside and we were once again glad to be dancing in the 'Caribbean' on behalf of the Dominican Republic Tourist Board. A big thanks to everyone who made this possible.

Dancebachata - Destinations Travel Show - Earls Court 2 - 5 Feb 2006 Bachata, the fresh national dance of the Dominican Republic came to life as hundreds of visitors watched Dancebachata's performance and took part in our taster lesson. It was fun 'travelling' the Caribbean, making friends and dancing in neighbouring islands. Thanks to the Dominican Republic Tourist Board who invited us to present Bachata and to all the people who took part in the lesson. We're also thrilled that BBC Radio sent out a live broadcast from the Show to capture the essence of Bachata. Video clips of Bachata performance and lesson photos click here |

Press Release: November 2005, for immediate release New and sexy, Bachata is setting the latin dance floors alight! Feeling the cold? Well, November is the perfect time to get hot on the dance floor, gently swinging those hips to the uplifting sound of Bachata! Once confined to the backstreets of the Dominican Republic, this sensual dance has emerged and is now finally making its way onto the dance floor alongside the already familiar sounds of Salsa and Merengue. This month sees the first UK Bachata Tour, when a young and enthusiastic Italian couple, Tony and Claudia will hold Bachata workshops and an amazing Bachata dance show at various venues up and down the country. Dancebachata, proud to be the UK’s first Bachata club will host them at the Q Bar, Whitechapel, Wednesday 30 November 7.30pm. The evening ends with DJ Tony spinning the latest Bachata sounds. This is an exciting time for all dancers whether experienced, tentative or new! For the established latin dancer, Bachata will add spice to existing moves; those afraid of spinning, posing or working out complicated rhythms will simply love Bachata and those who have never tried latin dancing before will be up and running in a flash! The basic step is easy – three steps left (side-together-side) followed by a hip motion and the same again to the right. The music, traditionally guitar based, is romantic and melodic, and was very popular with serenaders. In addition, the feature-length documentary Santo Domingo Blues: Los Tigueres de la Bachata, filmed in the Dominican Republic and New York, telling the story of Bachata, is being shown for the first time in the UK as part of the Discovering Latin American Film Festival. For more information about Bachata please contact Dancebachata 07946 620702, info@dancebachata.co.uk, www.dancebachata.co.uk. Notes for editors:
